Why the industrial file / structure file mix-up quietly kills ODM power bank projects — and how to catch it before anyone cuts a tool.
As a power bank OEM ODM manufacturer, this is the conversation we have with almost every new client, usually more than once. It's also the single most useful thing you can learn before you pay for a tool. We are an ODM Manufacturer building charging products - Power Banks, Wall Chargers, Wireless Charger, Cables, Speaker, phone holder and so on - for brands across over the world, Europe, North America, Japan and Korea.

1. Why this matters more than it did five years ago?
For wholesale power banks for Amazon, TikTok Shop, or enterprise retail, the playing field has fundamentally changed.
A customer now unboxes your product, films it, and posts the result. A one-millimetre gap becomes a one-star review with forty thousand views. Marketplace return rates on consumer electronics are unforgiving, and the distance between "looks premium" and "looks like a six-dollar gas-station impulse buy" is decided long before anyone writes a marketing brief.
And this is decided in the structure file

2. It protects your tooling(mold) budget and your margin
In ODM projects, the biggest silent cost isn't components. It's rework caused by structure file errors — tool modifications, scrap, re-runs.
A tool is a large one-time investment. Once it's cut, changing it is difficult and expensive. The structure file is the sole standard the tool is built from and the line runs to.
A good structure file saves thousands of dollars in losses, sometimes tens of thousands. A bad one turns that money into a very expensive lesson.
If the structure file has a design gap or a parameter error, the tool gets cut wrong, and every unit produced from it carries the defect. Your options are scrap and re-cut, or scrap and re-tool. Both consume material, labour and machine hours, and both arrive with a tooling bill nobody budgeted for.
There's a second, quieter cost. Without a complete structure file, the production line has no unified standard. Batch-to-batch quality drifts. Yield drops. Your QC team ends up arguing about what "acceptable" means on every shipment.
A properly specified structure file lets you verify structural interference, strength and mouldability before the tool is cut. That's the difference between finding a problem on a screen and finding it in a twenty-thousand-unit batch.

3. How we de-risk it before the tool is cut
Advanced R&D only pays off if it reaches the structure file. Our review sequence runs roughly like this:
- Structure file intake and completeness audit — before anything else, we tell you what's missing.
- DFM review — draft angles, wall thickness, gate placement, ejection, warpage risk
- Tolerance stack-up analysis — we model where the assembly actually lands at the worst case, not the nominal case
- Strength and interference verification — bosses, ribs, thin walls, press and drop loads
- Pilot run and first-article inspection — measured, not eyeballed
- Locked standard — the approved structure file becomes the line's single source of truth, with revisions controlled.
FAQ
Can you produce from our ID file alone?
We can start the DFM conversation from it. We can't cut a tool from it. A structure file has to be developed and reviewed first.
What causes uneven gaps between power bank housing halves?
Usually missing or loose tolerance callouts — boss height, screw hole position, fit clearance, location features. The tolerances stack during assembly, and the gap has nowhere to hide.
Can you optimize my ID(or if I have only a similar exist product photo) and make MD for me?
Yes we have full supply chain for OEM/ODM project, you can get a the quote one by one for them also(we will send you a form to write for details, then quote it one by one). Do not need to pay full production amount if you want to start with us.
Do you support custom power bank projects for Amazon, TikTok Shop and enterprise retail?
Yes. That's most of what we do. We are the certified power bank manufacturer(CE / FCC / UL / PSE / KC / RoHS / UN38.3 / ISO 9001 / BSCI). We also worked for many branded owners that they are selling in the amazon / TikTok / Enterprise Retail (Independent E-commerce Site) already.
